1944 BSA Lee Enfield No.4 Mk1T Sniper Rifle with a No.32 MkII scope - SOLD

Sale price£7,495.00 GBP

This delightful No.4 manufactured by BSA in 1944 and converted by Holland and Holland to No.4T specification is fitted with a No.32 MkII scope, arguably the best mark of scope, featuring the build quality of the Mk1 and the 1MOA clicks of the Mk3. with an original JD marked bracket.
The rifle has the patina of a genuine, unrestored, used example, with an Alloy buttplate, Mk1 Singer rear sight, and all the requisite Holland and Holland markings on the action and stock.

The provenance of this rifle has been explored. It was sold by Bonhams in 2012 with a different scope and bracket. In 2016 when it was for sale by Highwood Classic Arms, an original bracket with the same rifle number was for sale with The Devizes Gunsmith. The bracket was sold so that it could be paired with this rifle. At that time the rifle had a Mk2 scope as now fitted and the owner had restamped the scope number on the wrist ‘9172’. Since that time the rifle has been in private ownership of two collections until coming on the market now.

The rifle has been examined by Richard Stork of The Devizes Gunsmith and he states that it has the correct inspection marks, correct original bolt body with codes as expected, correct coded, dated and marked barrel, he commented how nice it is that it has it’s original barrel, bolt body and in his view, woodwork.

Subsequent owners have built up a part CES with original mismatched components, as seen in the photographs.

The barrel is in V Good to Excellent condition with strong 5-groove rifling.
The scope comes in an original tin, with leather scope caps and a reproduction scope adjusting tool.
Also accompanying the rifle is the wooden transit chest, Scout Regiment spotting scope, and a leather Patt 1907 sling.
This really is a lovely example of a No.4T.
Available for collection from Hampshire, Bisley, or RFD to RFD by arrangement.
Any inspection welcome
